It is a great book if you want to get a sense of the historical events that formed the region. It is one of my favorites by Michner. Hawaii was the first of his books I read and it is still a favorite. I have most of his books. Rutherford is another writer who tries to document a region's history but I don't think he is as good as Michner was. Centennial, Texas, Chesapeake, Poland, et al are just phenomenal. >>By DLB07
