Well, I don't know about some of Turgenev's work which, frankly, begins to get a bit repetetive in it's subject matter. However, the short story First Love is perhaps the best I have ever read. Absolutely beautiful, melancholic and heartbreaking.

I think that it is a good book because it does portray they emotions and the effect that first love can have on characters.
