Discussion: Ismail Kadare

As an avid reader of Kadare I am always interested in finding out more about his work. I have heard through the grapevine that there is another controversy that cropped up in Albania during last Spring but have not heard what is was about. I also noted that for the first time he was not on the Nobel short list. Does anyone have any current information on the political controversy that might have played a part in that omission? In my opinion, he is a genious of literature who had to write in a style that allowed him to fend off the censors and still bring to the forefront universal humanistic concepts through the interweaving of myth and politics.
