I thoroughly enjoyed The Dream of Scipio. The themes of love, sacrifice, friendship, civilization,antisemitism, fatalism, neoplatonism, and periods of history are all blended into a novel that is a joy to read. I look forward to reading other works of Mr Pears as he is undoubtedly one of the best of the English writers.
