I can see that Aquin uses language very cleverly to express emotion, but I don't feel he explains why he is so despondent. Not to be disrespectful, but I wonder if he is suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and this colours his view of reality so that he feels "the system" or "the government" is against him....yet he never explains what they have done to wrong him. I suppose he could say that they have suppressed his French culture, but isn't he free to maintain his French culture with like-minded others.
