Discussion: Henry David Thoreau

Is the work of HDT taken seriously by the academic community and teaching his work and beliefs? Is the concept of government that governs least governs best accepted by the academic elite? Having posed these questions I would say that Henry David Thoreau is ignored by eduators because his beliefs run counter to the notion of big government providing countless thousands of programs costing hundreds of billions of dollars.
