i think he deserves to be best known, 'cause he's really one of the thinkers that changed the XXth century. Maybe it isn't easy to understand him, but he's worth tryin'. To all the people who can read in french, the best book to understand is Michel Surya's : "Georges Bataille, la mort à l'oeuvre" (Gallimard, coll. "nrf", 2è éd. 1994)

this book was suprisingly thought provoking, and truthful. i think my english teacher chose for our college class to read it because she has a sucky love life.
