Discussion: George Gissing

I just re-read Eve's Ransom after twenty years. I love a book which dares to feature two quite unsympathetic characters in main roles. I know it's not considered a major Gissing work and I have read all of his, but this one always stayed with me the most. Maybe because there aren't many books set in Dudley, and I worked in and around Dudley for years. I know all of the settings in the Black Country sections of the book.
