Discussion: Ferrol Sams

Creator of the greatest series of all time.

>>By Scott

I just started a Lit Class and was given this author to write about. Although I have never heard of him until now, I find myself very impressed with his stories. I am from Maryland but moved to the South about 15 years ago and found humor in the first few pages of Epiphany......I need to know more about the author for my paper and would like to know where I could find it....thanks....PSRQUEEN@aol.com

I just finished run with the horsemen by Ferrol Sams. I will continue reading the Saga of Sambo. Sams has taken hold of my interest and I must see this boy through.

I too just completed Run With the Horsemen and was looking for information concerning which of Mr. Sams books to read next. I found this information through his Biography by searching online for Ferrol Sams, and also came across your site.
I was recommended to Mr. Sams work by an outstanding High School History teacher in Pensacola. I am a Navy Commander stationed in Rota Spain who grew up in the South (later than Mr. Sams) by reading this book, I was transported back in time to raising watermelons, slaughtering lifestock, and making cane syrup on my grandfathers farm. I found myself reading excerpts to my wife and daughter (something I seldom do). I read at least 4-5 books a month, I will not stop until I have finished all that Mr. Sams has written.
If anyone should know how to contact Mr. Sams through E-mail, I would appreciate this information (please respond to mstacy@rota.med.navy.mil). The history teacher who guided me to him, had met him at a book signing and stated "he is the person you think he is after reading his books" a most remarkable compliment for someone.

Having read Ferrol Sams trilogy about Sambo two years ago, I find myself rereading the series. They are just as captivating the second time around. Does anyone know how to contact Dr. Sams? Please respond to gannieannie@attbi.com. My father was a counry doctor in west Texas years ago and was born and raised in Arkansas. Somehow, I feel a real kinship with the characters Dr. Sams writes about. I read The Painted House by John Grisham about the same time I first read Run With the Horsemen. Sams' book far outshone Grisham's book for me even though they shared some similarities.
