This woman is an inspiration and just a complete miracle. Today there are so few educators who truly have passion, compassion, and comitment to their students. If the educational system had more teachers like her, there would be so many more college graduates, 4.0 students, less violence/crime by minors, and more tolerance and acceptance for everybody in the world. She is a true hero and just an extraordinary human being.

I am a Freedom Writer and have known Erin for about six years. She is an amaizing person and touches the lives of everyone that she meets; she is a truly selfless person who has helped so many people. She has been commended for her work with special awards, but there is no real award that is large enough to thank her for what she has done for all of us. (Thank you Ms. G.!)

I am an educator as well, and when I saw you at the Michigan Reading Association Confernce, you made me laugh and cry, mostly cry. I read your book and, not living in an urban area, completely connected it to my rural, lower class area. My kids are 7th graders and they are the children of welfare families (and believe me, in northern Michigan, that's very scary, I guess, as it is any where). They get drunk, do drugs (especially oxyconton-a derivitive of morphine). I only wish them well. I'm scared.
