Discussion: Ellen Gilchrist

Does anyone else out there like Ellen Gilchrist?? If so, what other authors do you recommend??

I'm currently reading "Light can be both a Wave and Particle"
While the story from which the collection derives its name is interesting, I don't find her portrayal of the Chinese characters of Physician "Lin Tan Sing" and the Physicist "Randal Yung" to be particularly convincing or interesting. Also, her depiction of people's attitudes towards physicists seems a bit "goofey" . Her real strength as a writer is, I think, in the depiction of characters (particularly women) who are from the Southern part of the USA.

Anyone else care to comment on this particular collection of short stories?
