| Discussion: David Gemmel Pages: 1 2 One word... Legend!>>By Monk I love his books. I always have. Anyone who dismisses Gemmel before reading him are sad ignorant people. I also love reading Clive Cussler and I also happen to be a trekkie! Go figure! Gemmels the best at what he does. I've read Knights of dark renown 7 times. I can't help but feel so sad when Druss dies is Legend. And Jon Shannow's character is by far the best hero!!! Closely followed by Waylander and Tenaka Khan. My favourite book though is Midnight Falcon. The Rigante are so good i can't stop reading them!! >>By Mark Talbot Thanks Sputnik. But i think you are being far to harsh. He has tried simply to portray what it truly is to be of celtic blood. And although he has in his amazing fictional biopics of his heros's only scratched the surface, he has done a damn sight more for celtic pride than any other Fantasy novelist. >>By Mark Bannon A truelly gifted story teller ... not the most original or imaginative... probably not the most exiting or eloquent... but his characters and stories, heroes and legends are well crafted and very entertaining >>By PsiBreeze normally i do not enjoy reading any bit. I can't concentrate for more than 2 hours in a row, then i get bored, and put the book down. But David Gemmel... He's something else, not only does he make his characters very realistic, you feel a strange kinship with them, want to be like them, they become the legends they are in the books, sort of role models. My personal favourite is Connavar, the fabeld Demonblade King. as a side note i wish to say that he is also very original in chosing the names for his characters, and those names create a great part of the hero, just by mentioning his name >>By Rao I've discovered david gemmel's books only one year ago. But first, I've thought that robert jordan was the best writer but after having read midnight falcon, i've changed my mind. His books are so entertaining!!! and the athmosphere he develops in these books seems so real that it's really disturbing when you have finally let the book down...But I've only one problem with fantasy books in general, I'm French and it's really difficult to buy english books...cause I prefer reading books in english. >>By Reilly his books are withought a doubt unbelievably amazing once i start reading one i have to finish it especially the chronicles of everyones favrouite DRUSS. recently just finished white wolf (like 5 mins ago) this 4rth addition to the druss series was well welcomed and was everything i expected and more! the ending especially, it took the wind clean out of me. those of u who have yet to read it i STRONGLY advise u do. gemmel truelly caprtures the imagination, atmospherethe list is endless true talent at its best LEGEND! mat kelly scotland. >>By Mat Kelly David Gemmel is definitely my favourite writer. I attribute this to the ease of which his books may be read. His writing is easily digested whilst at the same time readily ignite my own already potent imaginary skills to make the tapestry of his stories come alive. The continuity of his stories also an added bonus. Keeps you wondering of what he may write next. Personally love the Drenai tales - Druss the Legend & Waylander.
