A bit unfair to Daudet, this "hi, hi, hi, hi". If it means he's a funny writer, then fine, but still, It's unfair. Alphonse Daudet is a great storyteller, inspired by folk tales and propelled by a keen sense of observation. He is indeed very funny in his description of how funny people can be...
