Saxon, so you think there's a conspiracy going on here....?

>>By borisette   (Saturday, 27 Dec 2003 20:35)

Well I'll be! Only today received communication with snipits of Dean Francis writing. Some good stuff among it. Couldn't find any pubished books on Yahoo. Anyone know if he succeeded?

>>By readit   (Tuesday, 16 Mar 2004 15:01)

Hi, Readit...

You're not alone in liking his stuff as evidenced by these six pages! :o)

There's a post from Apparently on pg 155 of AM's board which will fill you in a bit about Dean's current situation...

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 16 Mar 2004 18:32)

Par for the course. A few draft copies I've seen are star quality and will never grace bookstore shelves. The reason being the authors refused to divulge personal details about themselves to literary agents for genuine personal security reasons, two being women. The books tho were well within MoD guidelines and no threat to national security.

stumbled upon this via McNabs chat pages. Who is this DF guy and anyone know where to read his work?

>>By 27091974   (Saturday, 3 Apr 2004 18:00)

Sorry for the delay in answering your question, 27091974...

Dean Francis was first introduced to the Andy McNab discussion forum by Hoarwithy back in May 2003 (pgs 20-21). At that time, DF had a website with sample chapters of two of his books, but the website is offline right now. DF's style is similar to AM's, and his main character, Mark Makken, is ex-SAS like Nick Stone -- so, naturally, AM fans found DF's sample chapters extremely appealing. According to a post from Annatom2 on pg 185 of AM's board, DF is reworking his book "Fair Target" and a rough synopsis was included in the post. The new plotline is quite different from his original story -- and it sounds excellent!

Hoping to hear more from DF or Annatom2 very soon!

Bio says: "His books incorporate real-life experiences and security operations, as well as gripping fiction following years of research & study"
Hope to hear from him/them again soon indeed :o)

sounds great. Have to scour the worlds bookshops to see if anything appears, thanks for the feedback

>>By 27091974   (Saturday, 14 Aug 2004 19:01)

what happened here. where is dean on writing books today?

>>By poolesprocket   (Saturday, 22 Jan 2005 20:28)

Sorry to butt in guys. But good news about Dean Francis. He has finally had an offer from an American publisher and his debut novel Fair Target will be processed and in print within the next 12 months. He hasn't yet decided whether to publish under his real name or Dean. 'Dean' is a friend of mine and has asked for my advice on more occasions than he has carried me home drunk! ;o) so I hope he does well, His web-site is now defunct but he has worked hard on becoming a writer so hopefully you guys will support him when his book finally hits the shelves/amazon et al.
I will keep you posted as and when with progress unless he decides to do so himself. Regards, old boy x

<<hopefully you guys will support him when his book finally hits the shelves/amazon et al.>>

hahaha..... Preaching to the choir here, Goldy. We're always looking for new stuff to read. Hope this American publisher actually publishes in America so that us Yanks can get our hands on it!

>>By Majorette   (Friday, 2 Sep 2005 18:00)

What I've read from him was great Maj. Publishing in America though.. not fair ! ;-)
Just kidding, Dean has been working very hard and if he finally gets his book in print we're all very happy for him. Also curious about the final product.

>>By Lynn   (Friday, 2 Sep 2005 18:26)

Apparently the publisher sells its own books online and also with amazon etc. so we should all be able to get a copy - even in timbuktu ;o)

Could be 6 months to a year though according to Dean. He's happy though and sends his best to you guys. He has asked me to thank all of you and promises to be in touch soon personally as soon as he gets a minute to himself!

No more book news?
We'll have to go see Rocky Balboa now Finchy?? :-))

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 19 Dec 2005 09:50)

I think the American's went into holiday mode and slowed down from the beginning of December!! I'm still gearing towards an end of Jan release but the last I heard the cover was half way through design so should be sent for my approval early-mid Jan. If all's well there's nothing to stop the release as planned. Yes, Rocky Balboa will be interesting I'm sure! There are links to pics on my web-site - fortunately the pictures of me are blurred and out of focus so I can still pretend I have the looks of a hollywood film star ;o). Check out the news section on www.darrenfinch.com

Publish America today announced that the official release date for Fair Target is 3rd June 2006 although copies will almost certainly be available prior to that. Keep checking www.darrenfinch.com or www.publishamerica.com for updates. The final cover design has now been approved by Darren who is said to be 'thrilled' with it.
