>>By christina   (Tuesday, 17 Jun 2003 17:52)

Hi, I've stumbled upon this site while looking for Andy McNab stuff. Checked out Dean's site and was quite impressed! does anyone know anything about him?

>>By boobah   (Sunday, 22 Jun 2003 00:24)

>>By christina   (Sunday, 22 Jun 2003 11:48)

Nice feature - the map!
I'm marked.
And if you read this Dean, how about another sample of
Fair Target you promised ?

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 23 Jun 2003 13:53)

I'm sure you'll get your promised gift, Lynn.

I can't even get a reply from Dean anymore - must be persona non grata, hence placed myself on his map at Norh Pole....

>>By christina   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 19:27)

I'd like to read more off both, so dunno Chris.

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 20:39)

Well now i have read more of both , thanx dean!, i think i would to say that i prefer fair target but i think that is beacuse i have read more of it so i dont really know!? what about everybody else.
Don't read these quotes if you havent read the chapters

favourite quotes:

'it stuck out like a queer in a brothel,'

“Oh no, where can Nancy be? The bright yellow and pink flowers on her dress will make her almost impossible to spot amongst this dark mud and metal fencing.”

>>By christina   (Sunday, 6 Jul 2003 21:35)

Still reading - why are there only 24 h in a day?????

Good part is: love what I've read so far, oh absolutely!!!

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 8 Jul 2003 19:27)

lol i read too fast and never get things done noooo it just makes me want more! are we still up for raiding his house lol

>>By christina   (Tuesday, 8 Jul 2003 20:03)

lol have you finished yet becuase its just so good!, oh absolutely!!!!!!

>>By christina   (Friday, 11 Jul 2003 22:18)

Dean's site has received an update. Cool new feature on Mark Makken - with exclusive preview of the third book!

>>By 2ic   (Tuesday, 15 Jul 2003 14:27)

Man-oh-man, 2ic! I don't know whether to thank you or hit you!

Now I'm even more impatient! Can't we just cut out the middle man and buy DF's books directly from him? Or wait, a very quiet member of F Troop recently had an excellent offboard idea! What if F Troop forms our own book publishing enterprise! We're diversified enough skill-wise, internationally based, and our enthusiasm certainly knows no bounds. Oooh yeah, it could happen! Hey, DF, wanna be our first client? You already know how we feel about you!

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 15 Jul 2003 16:12)

Has anybody read those chapters yet?

>>By christina   (Tuesday, 15 Jul 2003 21:15)

Shhh, Christina, yes! Don't know who all else has so we should be discrete for the time being, okay? ;o)

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 15 Jul 2003 22:39)

how do you what chapters im on about! :-) i could be talking about anything!

>>By christina   (Tuesday, 15 Jul 2003 22:42)

Orion have rejected Fair Target, although I don't think our e-mails had any influence. The letter Dean received was word for word the same as the one buddy quotes over on the McNab forum - and that was from an already published book! Back to drawing board for DF I suppose...

>>By 2ic   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 12:02)

Damn! I guess I should say, "Thanks for the update, 2ic," but geez, it's definitely not what I wanted to hear. The Criminally Clueless Idiots (aka B*****ds) Award is hereby bestowed on Orion in perpetuum! If only there were a way to use the incriminating evidence from Buddy's brilliant sting operation so that it could be used effectively to DF's (and our) advantage!

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 19:04)

I'd say most harm they're doing to themselves...
Just wait till he gets his book published... they wished
they hadn't been so stupid!

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 21:24)

There's absolutely no reason why Dean and I can't copy our letters from Orion and post both all over the Internet and plug them to newspapers, Writers' News etc!!

THE CEO at Orion - Anthony Cheetham (what a surname) - once said at some conferance or other, that if a writer wants to get published then get yourself noticed first!!!!!! He could well regret those words if faced with FTroop...

If we both received "identical" letters on the very same day with returned sample mss, then it must have been a mass "post" day at Orion gratis Kelly whats'er name...You know, the day when they say: "Ok, we've had that lot long enough, shove'em in the post."

>>By buddy   (Wednesday, 23 Jul 2003 23:29)

i don't know whether to thank you guys or throttle you for directing me to the DF website because now I've read the extracts I want to know how the damn thing finishes. It's not fair (said in a high pitched whining voice). Any one know the rest of the story? Anyone sleeping with any publishing execs to get him published, should we start doing that? He he. Aren't I getting everywhere these days??

>>By Bethan   (Thursday, 24 Jul 2003 10:02)

hey

Were all over the place. oh well we all have very good tatste!!

>>By christina   (Tuesday, 29 Jul 2003 13:28)

Ooooh! Either there've been more updates to Dean's website or I was so focused on 2ic's directions to the "Final Target" info that I missed another new page: "Interview with Dean Francis."

Dean, if you're reading this: Did you keep your original version of "Fair Target"? I understand that 9/11 would have had an impact, but with the passage of time, is that still true? This absolutely does NOT mean anything is lacking in the present "Fair Target" but from your own comments about having to edit it, I'm really, really intrigued as to what exactly fell to the cutting room floor!

2ic, can you share anything further or shed any light?

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 30 Jul 2003 14:22)

Oh yes, I've read it now too...
So nice to say thanks to GNOD.. ! ;-)
Talking about hard work... how does he manage to work on different projects at the same time??? I know I'd start mixing things up, but then I'm not a writer...

>>By Lynn   (Friday, 1 Aug 2003 23:12)

One thing at a time is enough for me! i read that a couple of days ago very interesting.
