Discussion: Carl Sagan

I just finished reading "Contact" and it is definitely not the best thing he wrote but I think it was fun to see what a highly intelligent and gifted communicator might do if he "let his hair down".
"Contact" is a kind of romp in the woods of fantasy and every once in a while Sagan hits the reader with an off-the-wall idea or expression that's a real jolt.
Read it-just for fun. It's better than the movie. (Jodie Foster takes herself far too seriously.)

I loved the book, I read it due to the influence of an online buddy. And I think I have seen the movie three times. I think both book and movie were great (and much of the story was changed in the movie) and it has its own appeal. What I like about the book was how extensive it was, it tackled a lot, not jus about astronomy but with philosphy as well. Not much of a Sci-Fi reader nor am I knowledgeable of astronomy but he book was extremely satisfying. made me more interested in Science.

You should read "The Demon-Haunted World." If you love science you will love that book.
