Carl Hiaasen

Forum

By no means great literature, Hiaasen is one of the best entertainment/humor novelists out there. With "Sick Puppy" I think he has reached the top of his powers. In it, all of his world is perfected without the need for him to go back to the tried and true journalist/editor dynamic. Twilly Spree is too good for that. Does anyone know what people in Florida think of Hiaasen and do you think Florida election rigging would be a subject right up his Hawaii-print sleeve for a future book?

Election rigging is a great idea, but might Carl not find an even more controversial topic in the whole Hospital megabusiness/ organ donor contoversy as in the Duke/Jesica thing? The real story is in the Public Relations angle, as in Native Tounge

i've read a couple of his books & really enjoyed them ... including "Striptease" that was made into a *ho-hum* movie, although Burt Reynolds was very funny indeed in it portraying a perverted, (fake) bible-thumpin' Florida politician ;)
Hiaasen has a keen awareness of Floridas' seedy underbelly & portrays it nicely in his novels.
