In my not so humble opinion, this guy gives the best portrait of the sun-drenched, yankee redneck latino overdeveloped infernal paradise that is modern Florida. What do you think?

I love Hiaasen. Definite top ten category. My other favorites: Palahniuk, Paul Auster, Kurt Vonnegut, Jonathan Lethem and I guess five to make that top ten.

Randy Wayne White...do tell? Also, you guys know about _Mile Zero_? Weird vodou detective story set in Key West, read it back in undergrad about 7 years ago, still stays with me. Anyway, what do you guys see in Hiaason, though? I'm from FL and living overseas now, so it keeps me in tune with what I love and loath about the place.
