Cela won the nobel prixe for the novel ´LA colména.´
Basically the book is set in Madrid in 1942 in a cafe´owned by Doña Rosa. The waitress of the place is a younger girl Elvira. The cafe´is the center of these people´s lives. They come and go and the book focuses on thier relationships with eachother and the world. Most are extremely poor and have no money to even be there.
