Necroscope: The Lost Years fits somewhere in between the 2nd book (Vamphyri!) and the 3rd book (The Source.) The Lost Year volumes details time and events that were lost to Harry, The Necroscope.

However The Lost Years volumes should be read in the order they were written. You should read them after reading Bloodwars.

The Lost Years volumes should be read as they were written and should be read following Bloodwars.

I was introduced to Lumley's work about a year back. In the course of about six weeks, I blew through the first four of his books. Once I was into the fifth book, Deadspawn, I totally lost interest in the series. Granted, every author has some parts of books that drag endlessly on, but to other Lumley fans, is it worth the time to continue through the remaining multiple books he has written? Does some of the magic return to his stories as it was in the first few books? I am an avid reader, but I just dont know continuing with this series.
