I read "Girl" in high school, I was around 15 then and that was almost ten years ago. I was in boarding school and I hated it and I used to go home during my holidays and buy loads of books in English and read them when I got back to school, and I read girl and it became my favorite book all through school. I wrote all these short stories about this kid who was like me but was also kind of like Andrea Marr, who was doing all these things I guess I would have been doing if I wasn't in boarding school.. I don't reckon the stuff I wrote was especially good. I saw the film and it was nowhere near as good.

i have always loved 'girl'. i'm older now. i don't read it as much as i did when i was in high school, but every once in a while i still have a staggering urge to pull it off of my bookshelf and once i start reading i can't stop.

this book is so personal it almost feels like reading someone else's diary. i haven't read any of nelson's other books, but i definitely feel like i need to based on my strong feelings for this book.

words for the wise: the movie is (not to be mean, but) very badly acted, and very loosely based on this incredible book!
