Discussion: Bernard Werber

It is very disturbing to notice that in a book so widespread and popular as Les Fourmes there can be such a great inaccuracy concerning the algebraic structure of three-dimensional objects, especially pyramids and tetrahedra, for it is impossible to construct a pyramid from six matches and furthermore a pyramid is not composed of four isosceles triangles, which form a tetrahedron, but rather of a square on the bottom and four triangles on the sides and thus I as a representative of the academic mathematician feel obliged to try and spread the mathematical truth across the world and save some poor souls from despair, which results from attempting the impossible task of constructing an object without the necessary materials.

Yours Truly,
