I have just recently read House of Sand and Fog (or was it Fog and Sand!). Did you base the character in the book, the Iranian colonel , in part, on a real person? I ask because we have been recently involved with someone who sounds so much like him , even though the outcome was different, that it is just too coincidental. The Iranian colonel we know did live in California for some time.
