I recently found an early ist edition called South of Java, which I have set aside. I would appreciate knowing the value of this book before I purchase. Thanks.

I assume George that South by Java is the same book "South by Java Head". Sometimes his books would be released in the US under a different title than was origional released in Britian.
Alistair is a master of detail as Mr Pandit mentioned. A very good suspense novelist who leads you along without giving away to much, ussually with a good twist at the end. If you like realistic hero's, Alistair is your guy.

I have read all McLean's books, but it was a long time ago. I am looking for a list of the books. I know most were made into movies starting with "The Secret Ways" Richard Widmark. I want to research the number that were made into movies and which ones he did the screenplay for.

he is a master story teller in true sense. his exotic style of setting the plot is unparralel. he can describe an incident of 10 secs. in 100 pages. he has no equal in this field.
